About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) will work on the Justin 8 Neurosurgical unit at Texas Health Fort Worth. This is a full-time night position. The unit has 36 beds and provides care to patients with neurosurgical conditions, including elective spine surgeries, cervical and lumbar surgeries, brain tumor patients, cranial hemorrhage patients, and stroke patients. The unit also cares for some remote tele-patients. Texas Health Fort Worth is a MAGNET facility and a Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire required
NIHSS -National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days of hire required
1 Year experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
Have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
Current neuro surgical RN experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Provide care to patients with Neurosurgical, elective spine, cervical and lumbar surgeries, Brain tumor patients, cranial hemorrhage patients just out of ICU and back up stroke unit.
Provide care to some remote tele patients.
Deliver high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
