About The Position

Registered Nurse (RN) Neurosurgical Bring your passion to Texas Health where we are Better +Together. The neurosurgical team provides care to the patient population with Neurosurgical, elective spine, cervical and lumbar surgeries, Brain tumor patients, cranial hemorrhage patients just out of ICU and back up stroke unit- this unit may also have some remote tele patients. This is a 36-bed Neurosurgical Unit at a MAGNET facility and a Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire required
NIHSS -National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days of hire required
1 Year experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
Have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems

Nice To Haves

Current neuro surgical RN experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Provide care to patients with Neurosurgical, elective spine, cervical and lumbar surgeries, Brain tumor patients, cranial hemorrhage patients just out of ICU and back up stroke unit.
May also care for some remote tele patients.
Deliver high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
