About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Texas Health Dallas delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning the care, intervening appropriately, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and incorporating age-specific safety/infection control measures. The RN also initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information and maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. Texas Health Dallas is a 900-bed MAGNET-designated hospital, a Level I Major Trauma facility, and a recipient of the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline Silver Quality Achievement Award. The Neuro Progressive Care Unit is a 35-bed Cardiac/Neuro Intermediate Unit specializing in neurological conditions, spinal surgeries, and cardiovascular patients requiring a higher level of care in a non-ICU setting. It is a high acuity telemetry/PCU unit with standard nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1 and up to 5:1 depending on acuity.

Requirements

  • Diploma of Nursing OR Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Required
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care.
  • Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted OR Nursing Diploma
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (AHA) upon hire Required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI-Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 60 days of hire is required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Preferred
  • (1) year Stepdown, Progressive Care or Intermediate (Tele) Care RN experience or three (2) years of Telemetry experience in an acute care hospital preferred
  • PCCN-Progressive Care Certified Nurse is preferred not required
  • SCRN - Stroke Certified Registered Nurse is preferred not required
