About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg 8 Unit at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. The Med/Surg RN will provide care to medical surgical adult patients with medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions. This role offers a dynamic environment with a wide range of patient population experiences. The M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center is dedicated to delivering outstanding healthcare with a focus on innovation, aiming to improve patients’ lives through groundbreaking technology and treatments. The partnership with the University of Minnesota Medical School and University of Minnesota Physicians allows for specialization in breakthrough treatments, surgical techniques, lifesaving therapies, and clinical trials. The unit is comprised of 24 beds, with patient assignments typically ranging from 4-5 patients on the Day Shift and 5-6 patients on the Night Shift. The team works with a variety of adult patient diagnoses including Sepsis, Overdoses/Withdrawals, Surgical Procedures, Diabetes, Pneumonia, and Altered Mental Status (AMS). Adaptability, a willingness to learn, and critical thinking skills are essential for success. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, possess strong problem-solving abilities, be flexible and collaborative, and be dedicated to patient-first care.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN)
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations.
  • Performing responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • Prioritizing, delegating, and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
  • Establishing and implementing nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and re-prioritizing care accordingly.
  • Demonstrating the ability to deliver care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and health care team members.
