Acute care medical‑surgical unit 24‑bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio 1:10 CA-to-nurse ratio Diverse patient population including medical, surgical, testing, and observation patients Common comorbidities: diabetes, hypertension, stroke, renal, and psychiatric conditions Strong team culture, improved nurse communication, and commitment to Sovah Health core values

Requirements

  • An Associates Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • A current VA (or Multi-state) RN license
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
  • Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
  • Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
