This Registered Nurse (RN) Lead position oversees the day-to-day provision of patient care within the Pediatrics: General department. The role involves managing staffing, workflow, equipment, and supplies. The RN Lead assists supervisors in evaluating and adjusting care and services, acting as an expert clinical and department resource. This position may involve providing work direction to other staff and assisting with patient care flow. A key aspect of the role is promoting and implementing care management and quality initiatives, establishing quality standards, and monitoring care delivery to correct problems. The RN Lead must maintain current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring staff compliance. Upholding safety and infection control standards is paramount. The role utilizes the nursing process (assess, plan, intervention, and evaluation) to provide ongoing care, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status. Prioritization of patient care based on essential needs is crucial. Responsibilities include triage, consultation, preparing patients for exams, performing laboratory procedures, and executing advanced clinical tasks under supervision. The RN Lead also assists physicians/providers with procedures and administers medications as ordered. Patient education and counseling on treatments and self-care are integral. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
