This role oversees the day-to-day provision of patient care, including staffing, workflow, equipment, and supplies. The RN Lead assists supervisors in evaluating and adjusting care and services, acting as an expert clinical and department resource. They may provide work direction to other staff and assist with patient care flow. The position also focuses on promoting and implementing care management and quality initiatives, establishing quality standards, and monitoring care delivery to correct problems. Maintaining current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, and ensuring staff compliance is crucial. The role also upholds safety and infection control standards. The RN Lead utilizes the nursing process for ongoing care, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status, and determining care priorities. They provide triage and consultation, prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting health information, and perform various laboratory procedures and advanced clinical tasks. Assisting physicians/providers with procedures and administering medications are key duties. The role also involves patient education and counseling, and following through with necessary requests and referrals. A strong understanding of age-specific care is required.
