About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery (L&D) is responsible for managing patient care throughout the entire process, from initial check-in through pre-operative care, delivery, post-operative care, and discharge. The role requires proficiency in utilizing the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate patient progress. The Speare OB Unit is equipped to handle high-risk pregnancies, including preterm labor, high blood pressure, diabetes, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section), prenatal testing, amniocentesis, and childbirth education classes.

Requirements

  • 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery / OB experience
  • Fetal Monitoring Experience
  • BLS (AHA), AWHONN, NRP - current and in hand at time of submission
  • Labor & Delivery skills checklist within past year
  • 1 Supervisory Signed Reference, from the past year of employment
  • Active American Heart Association BLS
  • Active AWHONN certification
  • Active NRP certification
  • License verification
  • Permanent address must be included in submission file
  • New Hampshire State License

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates clinical competence by utilizing the nursing process.

  • Implement interventions.
  • Evaluate and revise the patient plan of care based on patient progress.
  • Manage High-Risk pregnancy management, including (but not limited to) : Preterm Labor, High blood pressure, Diabetes, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section), Prenatal testing, Amniocentesis, Childbirth education classes.
