The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at Aurora West Allis Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. This full-time position involves caring for moderately stable patients with an elevated risk for instability. Patients may include ICU step-down, those who are chronically ventilated via tracheostomy, and patients with a higher risk of decompensation. The unit fosters a supportive, collaborative, and teaching culture with an equal mix of experienced staff and new graduates. The typical RN to Patient Ratio is 1:3-4 during the day and 1:3-4 during the night. The role focuses on building foundational skills through preceptor-directed orientation and developing expertise in triaging, lab interpretation, pathophysiology, pharmacology, time management, and communication for intermediate acuity patients. The RN will coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, develop collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team, and provide continuity of care through 12-hour shifts, patient-centered care, and team-minded support. This position is part of the One Advocate Nurse community, committed to purpose, compassion, boldness, innovation, and inclusivity.
