About The Position

Blake 11 is a 24 bed, locked, inpatient psychiatric unit. The inpatient service provides diagnostic evaluations, brief inpatient treatment, and care to an adult population of patients with primary psychiatric disorders. Also, as a tertiary health care provider, the service accepts referrals for diagnostically complex or treatment resistant patients. Patients with concomitant medical and neurological disorders and a primary psychiatric disorder are also treated. With primary nursing as our model of care delivery, staff nurses provide supportive and empathic emotional care, behavioral management, medication management, and education to our patients. Our mission is abatement of acute symptoms, through evaluation and appropriate disposition, generally after a 10-day stay. The nursing service has a strong culture of professionalism and evidence-based practice. Many nurses are ANCC board certified as Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurses and Certified Addictions Registered Nurses. Professional growth opportunities are widely available. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Psychiatric RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and assist in treatments and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Educate patients and families on health management and post-care instructions.
  • Uphold infection control measures to ensure a safe clinical environment.
  • Respond efficiently and effectively to emergent situations, demonstrating sound judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Responsible for patient care, collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring the highest standards of healthcare are maintained through skilled nursing expertise, support, and patient advocacy, all while under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
