About The Position
Blake 11 is a 24-bed, locked, inpatient psychiatric unit that provides diagnostic evaluations, brief inpatient treatment, and care to an adult population with primary psychiatric disorders. As a tertiary health care provider, the service accepts referrals for diagnostically complex or treatment-resistant patients, including those with concomitant medical and neurological disorders. Using primary nursing as the model of care delivery, staff nurses provide supportive and empathic emotional care, behavioral management, medication management, and education to patients. The mission is the abatement of acute symptoms through evaluation and appropriate disposition, generally after a 10-day stay. The nursing service has a strong culture of professionalism and evidence-based practice. Many nurses are ANCC board certified as Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurses and Certified Addictions Registered Nurses. Professional growth opportunities are widely available. Rotating shifts and weekend shifts are required.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year RN experience.
- Associate's Degree Nursing required.
- Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
- Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
- Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Responsibilities
- Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
- Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
- Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
