The inpatient neuroscience unit consists of 3 floors in our newest state of the art Lunder building. The Lunder building is a beautiful open space with floor to ceiling windows, private rooms, and access to the latest equipment promoting an optimal care environment. Neuroscience nurses at MGH are part of an amazing team of clinicians who provide exceptional care to complex patients with a primary neurological diagnosis. Our neuroscience nurses care for an adult population that includes a variety of primary neurological diagnoses such as stroke, head and spine trauma, and degenerative spine disease requiring surgical intervention. Our neuroscience nurses become experts in the care of this complex patient population with proficiency caring for patients with altered mental status, external drains, including cerebral and lumbar drains, mechanical ventilation, and parenteral feeding tubes. As experts in the complexity of nervous system disorders, inpatient neuroscience nurses are a critical part of the multispecialty care at MGH that practice with a team approach and a focus on great patient outcomes.
