About The Position

This is a PRN opportunity for an experienced nurse interested in Cancer Services within the Inpatient Oncology Unit at MUSC Florence. The role involves providing direct patient care using the nursing process, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring age/developmentally appropriate care. The nurse will focus on patient and family-centered care, addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, coordination of care, health teaching, and evaluation of goals and interventions. Maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment is crucial, along with demonstrating professional behavior, participating in shared governance, adhering to standards of care, and engaging in peer review and professional development. The position also involves coordinating patient care services through care management principles, identifying clinical priorities, and taking action to improve patient outcomes. The nurse will actively participate in a professional practice model, promote a healthy work environment, and accept responsibility for professional growth.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
  • Provide patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function in a professional setting through active participation in a professional practice model.
  • Coordinates the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through the application of care management principles.
  • Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.
