About The Position

Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU – Full-time, 7P Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together. The ICU Department is an 18-bed unit providing a high acuity level of care. The patient population includes respiratory failure, multisystem organ failure, renal failure, cardiovascular issues, and isolation patients. The department prides itself on high performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills. We offer self-scheduling that helps with work/life balance, as well as opportunities for educational and career growth. We have a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team. This facility is a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency (required)
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
ACLS – within 90 days of hire
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
NIHSS – within 6 months of hire required
1 year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
The professional nurse demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

Current RN experience in ICU and/or PCU setting preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
