About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Texas Health HEB will deliver care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This role involves assessing patients, planning care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The nurse will incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiate actions to meet patient and/or significant others' needs for information, and maintain continuity of patient care between shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The ICU department is an 18-bed unit specializing in Trauma, Neurosurgical, and Cardiovascular patient care, offering opportunities to train in high-acuity skills. It is a fast-paced, high-acuity unit with 24/7 Intensivist coverage and strong nurse/doctor collaboration. Texas Health HEB is a 322-bed, acute-care, full-service hospital providing a broad range of specialties and is ANCC Magnet® designated.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Nursing Diploma in Nursing required
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS – within 90 days required
  • NIHSS – within 60 days of hire
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1 Year of experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Current ICU experience strongly preferred
  • Opportunities to train to high acuity skills, including Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Targeted Temperature Management, Impella, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), etc.
  • National Certification Preparation and Courses offered, as well as test reimbursement/bonus
  • Looking to expand our Neurosurgery and Cardiac Surgery service lines
