About The Position

This role is more than a job. It is a full-time position with benefits or a full-time limited benefits option. The position offers a $15K sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for qualified candidates. The work environment is described as having great teamwork, with self-scheduling available. The unit is comprised of Gastrointestinal, urological, colorectal, bariatric, general surgical and medical surgical patients. It is a 38-bed unit with a 1:5 patient ratio. Med-Surg nursing is described as the backbone of every hospital, requiring unwavering passion, mental toughness, empathy, compassion, and strong nursing skills. The role involves being on the front line of care, getting to know patients as individuals, and handling a wide range of nursing demands. The position is a hands-on, diverse nursing role.

Requirements

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population including Gastrointestinal, urological, colorectal, bariatric, general surgical and medical surgical patients.
Manage a patient ratio of 1:5.
Respond to patient needs, including call lights, medical needs, and family requests.
Document patient care and progress.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality care.
Adapt to a fast-paced environment with "never-a-dull-moment" situations.
