About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Float Pool at Texas Health Southwest is a full-time, night shift position responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This role involves assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient care, while incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures. The RN will also initiate actions to meet patient and/or significant others' needs for information and maintain continuity of patient care across shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The Float Pool offers the opportunity to work on a variety of units including PCU, Med Surg, and ED Holds, providing a dynamic and challenging work environment within a MAGNET facility and Level III Trauma Center.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support - within 90 days of hire Required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire Required
NIHSS - required for ICU/PCU Neighborhood 6 Months Required

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
Med/Surg and Progressive Care experience strongly preferred
