About The Position

Registered Nurses in the Float Pool provide essential support to the VCU Health System (VCUHS) by floating to multiple inpatient units and procedural areas, including acute care, progressive care, Periop, and other specialties. This flexible pool operates 24/7, supporting both adult and pediatric patients. Reassignments can occur in 4-hour blocks, and there's an opportunity to float to other VCUHS facilities. The role involves delivering direct, age-specific care, administering medications safely, and documenting care accurately. Clinical Nurse II demonstrates mastery of clinical skills and begins applying knowledge to a specific patient population, while Clinical Nurse III demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge at the unit level and anticipates patient needs.
