About The Position

The Flex Pool is made up of an adaptable and dynamic team of employees that is able to work in multiple service lines at all four NRHS campuses. These include medical and cardiac intensive care units, medical and cardiac step down units, med/surg, ortho/neuro, oncology, and post-surgical units as well as the occasional special assignment that may include procedural areas. The Flex Pool is dedicated to providing exceptional care when and where needed throughout the organization. RN essential functions include, but are not limited to: collaboration with other health professionals, assessment, analyzing assessment data, establishing goals, planning care strategy, establishing priorities of care, implementing care, delegating tasks safely, providing safe direct and indirect nursing care, evaluating responses to interventions, and performing additional nursing functions in accordance with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation. Assesses or manages the care of patients, or provides direct patient care. Flex between HealthPlex departments in a variety of settings that may include critical care, intermediate care, med/surg, and emergency room. Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate. Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate. Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current practice standards, rules, regulations and policy. Evaluation and Discharge - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions. Requirements

  • Must be able to float between all the units of the approved pods.
  • Approved pods include Med/Surg – Medical Surgical Observation, Ortho, Surgical, Medical/Oncology.
  • Intermediate Care - IMC and PCCU.
  • Critical Care - ICU.
  • Emergency Department - Hwy 9, Moore Medical Center, and HealthPlex campuses.
  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required
  • 1-year experience in an equivalent area for Med/Surg Pod
  • 1 year IMC or equivalent experience for IMC Pod
  • 2 Years Critical Care Experience to include sufficient orientation to and demonstrated annual competencies for Basic & Advanced Hemodynamics, Pacemaker and Mechanical Ventilation for Critical Care Pod
  • 2 years ED experience for ER Pod
  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) & Basic EKG interpretation certified within 6 months of hire for Intermediate and Critical Care Pods
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and MANDT certification within 6 months of employment for ER Pod
  • All required certifications BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and MANDT must be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
