Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC. This position is a training opportunity, focusing on the BCIT Emergency Nursing Specialty Program. The role involves practicing within a patient and family-centred care model, adhering to BCCNM standards and organizational values. The nurse will provide emergency nursing care to patients of all ages with diverse symptoms in an uncontrolled environment, including specialized care for victims of sexual assault. Responsibilities include triage, assessing patient needs, prioritizing care, stabilizing and resuscitating multi-trauma victims, and responding to disaster situations. The role also involves enhancing patient/family quality of life, consulting with other healthcare providers, demonstrating expertise and leadership, maintaining clinical competence, and participating in committees and research projects. Sechelt is a charming seaside community on the traditional territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation, accessible via ferry from Vancouver. It offers a lifestyle with easy access to outdoor activities and a short commute to work. Sechelt Hospital is a 46-bed acute care facility serving over 30,000 residents, providing a range of services including Emergency care, Renal program, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing, and imaging.
