About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department at Texas Health Southwest is a full-time position responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing patients, planning care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient and/or significant others' needs for information, and maintaining continuity of patient care across shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The department is a 48-bed ED within a MAGNET facility, Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke center, and STEMI with PCI capabilities, handling both pediatric and adult critical care. Self-scheduling is available to promote work/life balance, with excellent opportunities for educational and career growth.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Req
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
  • PALS – within 90 days of hire required OR ENPC – within 12 months of hire required
  • TNCC – within 12 months of hire required
  • NIHSS – within 6 months of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • Current ED experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
  • Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Current ED experience strongly preferred
