Registered Nurse (RN)- Emergency Department (ED)
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED) for a 16-week contract position in Utica, New York. The RN will provide emergency nursing care in a 64-bed Emergency Department serving newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients across a wide range of acuity levels. The unit manages complex conditions including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure. Candidates must have previous Emergency Department experience, pediatric exposure, prior travel nursing experience, and strong skills in managing high-acuity patients and critical-care medications. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will provide skilled, responsive, and evidence-based emergency care across a diverse patient population and broad range of clinical acuity.
Requirements
- Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License Required at Time of Submission.
- Minimum 2 Years of Emergency Department Nursing Experience Required, Including Pediatric Experience.
- Previous Travel Nursing Experience Required
- Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications Required.
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certifications Required
- Epic Experience Required.

Responsibilities
- Perform rapid and comprehensive patient assessments, prioritize care based on acuity, and initiate appropriate emergency nursing interventions.
- Provide emergency care to newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients presenting with medical, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, psychiatric, and traumatic conditions.
- Recognize clinical deterioration and respond appropriately to stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and other critical emergencies.
- Administer and monitor high-acuity medications and infusions, including vasopressors, vasodilators, antiarrhythmics, sedation medications, anticoagulants, thrombolytics, and insulin.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate safe emergency care.
