About The Position

We welcome you to join the Jeff Gordon Child Advocacy Center, located at Atrium Health Cabarrus. Our goal is to help the children we care for lead safe, happy, and healthy lives. The Jeff Gordon Child Advocacy Center offers a safe haven for children and advocates for abused children in our community. With a team of RNs, Medical Providers, victim advocates, forensic interviewers, and office personnel, the CAC team works closely with law enforcement, mental health, the District Attorney’s office, and Child Protective Services to ensure abused children in our community have a voice.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • One year of Nursing experience
  • Completion of a Forensic Interviewer Certification, or the ability and willingness to successfully complete forensic interview training within the first six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Use evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and communication skills while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
  • Continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
  • Conduct forensic interviews with alleged victims or witnesses of abuse, neglect, or other crimes, maintaining neutrality and objectivity throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including law enforcement, child protective services, medical professionals, and social workers, to coordinate investigations and services.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions, staying updated on best practices, trauma-informed care, and legal protocols.
