About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse position in Cardiac Med Surg requires the use of the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan. The role involves incorporating the patient and family into care planning, developing therapeutic relationships, and anticipating changes in patient condition. The nurse will provide ongoing assessments, alter care plans as needed, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the healthcare team for patient-centered care. Strategies to reduce patient risk and enhance safety will be implemented. The position also involves assessing and addressing patient and family learning needs, coordinating discharge plans interdisciplinary, and applying evidence-based practice. The nurse will consistently incorporate nursing and regulatory standards, evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, and take appropriate action when changes are needed. Support for shared governance, effective communication, conflict resolution, and delegation to unlicensed personnel are key aspects of the role. Promoting a culture of safety, reporting patient safety events, and applying ethical decision-making are also essential. Participation in quality/process improvement initiatives, professional development, and attending required meetings and educational programs are expected. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing

  • Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.

  • Must be able to: carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Must be able to: perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

  • Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).
