The Registered Nurse provides direct care to patients with Hematological and Oncological diseases, as well as supportive care to many other diagnoses through infusion therapy. Complete Admission Nursing Assessments on new and returning patients. Triage side effects of therapies, and complete routine skin and toxicity assessments, reporting all findings to the appropriate providers. Provide patients and families with education related to disease, treatment, potential adverse effects, and symptom management for Infusion therapies. Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy, as prescribed by a provider, determine that the patient meets criteria, and verify orders prior to administration. Provide non-oncologic infusion-related treatments to patients within the community. Document patient interactions, assessments, advice, and responses to care in the EMR and discuss the plan with the provider.

Requirements

  • BSN
  • Current NYS RN license
  • BLS from American Heart Association
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Infusion experience
  • outpatient oncology experience or medical oncology experience
  • Chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certification and maintenance
  • Proficient IV/Central line access skills
