About our team At Canyon Vista Medical Center, Behavioral Health nurses are more than caregivers. They are trusted advocates, compassionate healers, and essential members of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to transforming lives through evidence-based mental health care. Our adult inpatient Behavioral Health Unit provides 24-hour psychiatric treatment and clinical support in a safe, therapeutic environment where nurses have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients experiencing mental health crises and behavioral health challenges. As part of our specialized 19-bed inpatient Behavioral Health program, you'll collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, physicians, and experienced behavioral health professionals who are committed to helping patients achieve recovery, stability, and improved wellness. Our team-centered culture emphasizes safety, respect, professional growth, and compassionate patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Must have an active Arizona or Compact RN License.
  • BCLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Handle with Care certification is preferred.
  • One year of experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
  • Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
