About The Position

Frye Regional Medical Center is hiring a PRN Registered Nurse for Behavioral Health Intake at its South Campus. Behavioral Health Services serves as a gateway to care, connecting patients with behavioral health services and support. The 83-bed campus provides a safe, therapeutic environment where team members collaborate with clinicians, physicians, and leadership to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. The RN reviews referral documentation and determines patient acceptance in a fast-paced setting, gathering information and making a determination in less than 15 minutes. The nurse also provides and documents nursing care, assesses patient needs, initiates appropriate interventions, and completes care planning and quality-improvement assessments.

Requirements

• Current active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact license; if relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Handle With Care certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Two years of Behavioral Health/Psych experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation from referrals and accept patients.
• Gather information and make a determination in less than 15 minutes in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
• Accurately assess patients and identify their needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide care appropriate to each patient's condition and age.
• Document medical necessity accurately and in a timely manner in the medical record.
• Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Perform timely and accurate QI assessments.
