About The Position

The RN Administrative Coordinator for the Perioperative Education, Training, and Special Projects has responsibility for collaborative development, implementation, and tracking of nurse and employee education, training, and competency assessment systems for the Perioperative Department or assigned area(s), as well as monitoring and oversight of assigned responsibilities as defined by Perioperative leadership. This individual contributes to organizational improvement work, nursing leadership and shared governance structures to achieve organizational priorities. Coordinates with nursing, inter-professional and support services to plan, implement and measure organization-level changes which improve patient safety, clinical efficiency, and clinical quality. Supports onboarding, education, training, and quality/practice improvement initiatives. Plans, organizes, and leads projects as indicated. Assess the needs of internal/external customers according to established professional standards and institutional guidelines/policy/procedure. Partners with Perioperative Clinical Intake Team and Perioperative Leaders to define, implement, and measure the effectiveness of services and methodologies used for staff hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts. Consults with Unit-Based Leadership (UBL) to advise on new hire resources and tools applicable to specific needs as requested. Coordinates multiple projects and work streams to achieve objectives in a timely manner. Provides timely consultation to front line clinicians and leaders for educational and/or competency needs and system questions. Assures efficient and effective communication of hiring initiatives to clinician stakeholders. Provides a safe environment and safe delivery of services. Organizes and prioritizes services and activities considering the needs of the customers. Foster a work environment which promotes inter-professional collaboration, effective communication, team member engagement and retention, and professional growth and development both within assigned departments as well as throughout the organization and community served. Evaluates effectiveness of services. Demonstrates leadership in the delivery of services. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s license.
  • 3 years of progressive leadership experience as a registered nurse in a patient care environment required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in related field within 5 years of hire.
  • Master's degree in nursing education strongly preferred.
  • Perioperative experience in an Academic Medical Center and Magnet organization preferred.
  • Mentoring, training, and coaching experience preferred.
  • Epic experience is highly desired.
  • Applicable specialty certification at hire or within 3 years.
