About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Resource Pool team. This flexible and rewarding role is ideal for an experienced nurse who enjoys variety, professional growth, and being part of a supportive, mission-driven healthcare team. The Resource Pool at Sentara Obici is hospital specific and includes floating to units with additional need due to either acuity or staffing. Primarily assigned to IMCU or Medical/Surgical units, this unit offers training and precepting on the ICU and ED for Registered Nurses (RN) who wish to move into these more critical care areas or placement into these critical care areas if experienced. This Central Float Pool is ideal for those who enjoy variety or are interested in learning new skills.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing a registered nursing program with previous experience in acute care clinical roles may be considered.
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License with previous experience in acute care clinical roles may be considered in AHRT program
  • 2 years of acute care experience (preferred)
  • Critical care experience (preferred)
  • Medical Surgical experience (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
  • Follow the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
  • Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
