About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care within a Renal and Medical-Surgical unit. This role focuses on caring for patients with kidney disease, renal disorders, and kidney transplant needs while also supporting a diverse medical-surgical patient population. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical assessment skills, experience with evidence-based nursing care, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Requirements
- Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License.
- Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
- Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing and/or Renal Nursing.
- Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
- Ability to work nights, holidays, and every third weekend.
- Ability to float to other units as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Kidney transplant patient care experience.
- Peritoneal dialysis experience.
- Renal nursing experience.
- Dialysis-related certifications.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to renal, kidney transplant, and medical-surgical patients.
- Perform holistic patient assessments including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to providers and leadership.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and renal-related nursing interventions.
- Perform and support peritoneal dialysis procedures utilizing manual and cycler methods.
- Assist patients throughout kidney transplant and post-transplant care processes.
- Utilize SBAR and standardized handoff communication methods.
- Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
- Float to other units based on staffing and patient care needs.
- Support telemetry monitoring and patient observation activities as needed.
