About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care within a Renal and Medical-Surgical unit. This role focuses on caring for patients with kidney disease, renal disorders, and kidney transplant needs while also supporting a diverse medical-surgical patient population. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical assessment skills, experience with evidence-based nursing care, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Requirements

  • Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License.
  • Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association).
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing and/or Renal Nursing.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
  • Ability to work nights, holidays, and every third weekend.
  • Ability to float to other units as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Kidney transplant patient care experience.
  • Peritoneal dialysis experience.
  • Renal nursing experience.
  • Dialysis-related certifications.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to renal, kidney transplant, and medical-surgical patients.
  • Perform holistic patient assessments including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
  • Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to providers and leadership.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and renal-related nursing interventions.
  • Perform and support peritoneal dialysis procedures utilizing manual and cycler methods.
  • Assist patients throughout kidney transplant and post-transplant care processes.
  • Utilize SBAR and standardized handoff communication methods.
  • Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education.
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
  • Float to other units based on staffing and patient care needs.
  • Support telemetry monitoring and patient observation activities as needed.
