About The Position

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the 2-South Medical/Surgical Unit. This is a full-time, night shift position. The unit is a 24-bed unit caring for adult, geriatric, and adolescent patients, including medical or GYN overflow patients. The variety of cases includes abdominal, endoscopic, ENT, general, gynecologic, ophthalmic, orthopedic, thoracic, urologic, vascular, and plastic surgeries. Medical patients are admitted with conditions such as CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, atrial fib, and chest pain. New graduate RNs are welcome to apply and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, which is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program for new graduates. Experienced nurses moving into this specialty are also welcomed.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required (for experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Care for adult, geriatric, and adolescent patient population.
  • Manage medical or GYN overflow patients.
  • Handle a variety of cases including abdominal, endoscopic, ENT, general, gynecologic, ophthalmic, orthopedic, thoracic, urologic, vascular, and plastic surgeries.
