Nurse A - Registered Nurse Registered Psych Nurse
About The Position
The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) is accountable for promoting high quality care through assessing, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating the total care needs of our patients/residents/clients (P/R/Cs). The RN/RPN is required to coordinate with all the departments within the facility, families and professionals associated with P/R/Cs care. The RN/RPN must promote effective communication in the facility through care given and reporting mechanisms. The RN/RPN is expected to participate in staff meetings and educational opportunities to maintain their own professional competence.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) or Bachelor of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing diploma or Nursing diploma.
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS).
- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
- Registered/eligible with College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of SK - CRPNS.
- Basic Decision making skills.
- Basic Counseling skills.
- Basic Mediation skills.
- Basic Assessment skills.
- Basic Facilitation skills.
- Basic Computer skills.
- Basic Communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions.
- Knowledge of commonly used psychotropic medications.
- Knowledge of the Provincial Mental Health Services Act and Regulations.
- Ability to keep effective work relationships with clients of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Competency in psychiatric nursing assessments, care planning & treatment.
