About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville, Tennessee, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pulmonary Medicine Stepdown unit. This role is crucial in advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. The 7JAT Pulmonary Med Stepdown unit is an exciting, dynamic, and team-oriented environment caring for adult patients (18+) with complex pulmonary conditions. These include post-lung transplant patients (from CVICU or admitted for complications), pulmonary hypertension, post-endoscopic lung volume reduction procedures, interstitial lung disease exacerbations, patients listed for lung transplant requiring admission, and ECMO graduates. The patient population's unique and complicated range of conditions requires a multifaceted approach to care. This is a full-time night shift position, working 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, three times per week for a total of 36 hours per week, including some weekends.

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • 1 year of experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
  • Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
