About The Position

Encino Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its behavioral health services. The hospital is a 150-bed facility in Encino, California, serving a diverse population through inpatient and outpatient services. Registered nurses provide patient care, education, advice, and emotional support to patients and their families. In this role, nurses also run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention, including seclusion and restraint when needed. RNs document medical histories and symptoms, assist with diagnostic testing and analysis, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and support follow-up and rehabilitation. They teach patients and families about managing illness or injury, diet and exercise, medication self-administration, and physical therapy.

Requirements

Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
Working knowledge of mental health laws and practice standards.
Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions.
Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention, including seclusion and restraint of patients.
Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
Operate medical machinery and administer treatment and medications.
Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
Teach patients and families how to manage illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and physical therapy.
Perform other related duties.
