About The Position

The Preop/PACU/PAT/PHASE 2 departments at Mount Carmel Dublin offer a unique environment for Registered Nurses. The role involves providing pre-surgical and post-surgical care for cases originating from operating rooms, the Endoscopy suite, non-invasive cardiac lab, and cardiac and interventional radiology suite. The PACU maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, and new patients are expected hourly in preop, indicating a fast-paced department that values energy and teamwork. Staff are cross-trained across preop, PAT, PACU, and phase 2, providing opportunities to acquire diverse skills and interact with various patient populations. The team includes experienced staff who are available to mentor new colleagues. The Registered Nurse, operating within the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, delivers patient care in a manner sensitive to each individual's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates with the team and is responsible for patient care delivery using the Nursing Process, adhering to the Organization's standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate from school of nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • For Casual RNs, 2 years of experience is required.
  • New graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice.
  • Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
  • Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
  • Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
  • Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
