About The Position

The Preop/PACU/PAT/PHASE 2 departments at Mount Carmel Dublin are unique, handling pre-surgical and post-surgical care cases from operating rooms, Endoscopy suite, non-invasive cardiac lab, and cardiac and interventional radiology suite. The nurse-to-patient ratio in the PACU is 1:2, and a new patient can be expected in preop every hour. This is a fast-paced department characterized by high energy and teamwork. Staff are cross-trained in preop, PAT, PACU, and Phase 2, providing opportunities to gain additional skills and interact with diverse patient populations. The team includes tenured staff who are available to mentor new colleagues. The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, ensuring an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates in a spirit of teamwork and is accountable for delivering patient care using the Nursing Process, adhering to the Organization's standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate from school of nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • For Casual RNs 2 years of experience is required.
  • All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice.
  • Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
  • Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
  • Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
  • Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
