About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Pre-Op department at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital in Panama City, FL. The position is full-time, with a schedule of either 4 ten-hour or 5 eight-hour shifts per week. There is a requirement for call and holiday coverage, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

Graduate of a Registered Nursing program required.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida.
One year of experience as a Staff Registered Nurse is required.
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a critical care or PACU setting is preferred.
Minimum 2 years of PACU, Pre-Op or Critical care experience.
ACLS and PALS by end of orientation.
Interest in cross training to PACU.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments to ensure patients are medically prepared and cleared for surgery.
Implement and maintain sterile and safety standards to protect patients and support high-quality surgical care.
Monitor patient responses to treatments and interventions to identify risks early and support safe surgical outcomes.
Manage patient comfort and address concerns proactively by assessing pain, anxiety, and readiness for procedures.
Anticipate patient and procedural needs by collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia teams to ensure efficient, well-coordinated surgical care.
