Join Our Preop/PACU Nursing Team Registered Nurse (RN) – Preop/PACU/Step-down | Manhattan Surgical Hospital Bring your clinical skill, calm confidence, and compassionate care to a fast-paced surgical team that supports patients through every step of their perioperative experience. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Preop/PACU/Step-down team and help provide safe, efficient, patient-centered care before and after surgery.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Kansas.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to stay organized, focused, and responsive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to push and/or pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • A dependable, professional team member who is committed to safe, respectful, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Preop, PACU, and Step-down areas to safely receive and care for surgical patients.
  • Provide pre-operative assessment, education, emotional support, and instructions for patients and families.
  • Confirm key patient information, including allergies, medications, health history, consent, operative site, and responsible party.
  • Start IVs, obtain vital signs, complete nursing assessments, follow provider orders, and document care accurately.
  • Deliver post-operative care, including airway support, vital sign stabilization, pain and nausea control, safe emergence from anesthesia, discharge readiness, and patient education.
  • Communicate with patients before and after surgery through pre-op and post-op phone calls.
  • Assist anesthesia providers with nerve blocks and support efficient patient flow throughout the perioperative setting.
  • Maintain clean, organized, stocked, and secure clinical areas while following facility policies and safety standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, required education, CQI activities, incident reporting, and emergency response.
  • Perform other duties as assigned while upholding patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
