This role involves providing high-quality nursing care in both the Pre-Operative (Pre-Op) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) settings. In Pre-Op, the nurse performs telephone assessments, ensures documentation is complete, coordinates with medical staff to verify patient suitability for surgery, and educates patients and families. In PACU, the nurse delivers direct patient care, monitors vital signs and airway status, responds to clinical changes, and educates patients and families prior to discharge. The role requires maintaining productivity, professionalism, teamwork, resourcefulness, and adherence to all regulatory and facility standards. The nurse will also oversee daily operations of the Pre-Op area, serve as a point of contact for clinical questions, provide real-time support, and ensure regulatory and safety standards are met. In PACU, the nurse collaborates with anesthesia and surgeons, addresses staffing and resource needs, ensures compliance with policies, and monitors supply levels.
