Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department. This role involves performing plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities. The nurse will document patient care provided, monitor and record patient condition, and communicate it to the care team, physician, patient, and family. Additionally, the role includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, collaborating across disciplines for patient care coordination, and evaluating learning needs of patients and/or families, providing education as appropriate. The nurse will advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient, participate in performance improvement and continuing education, provide quality patient care, and work flexible shifts or units as needed. Maintaining regular and reliable attendance is also a key function. Patient populations served include Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, and Older Adult. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present.
