Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) is a 12-bed unit caring for over 400 infants, children and adolescents per year who are recovering from major surgeries or requiring therapy for serious illnesses. Our highly skilled and compassionate multidisciplinary team provide the latest diagnostic procedures and treatments available. The PICU serves as the core for designating Cedars-Sinai as Pediatric Critical Care Center. As our next Clinical Nurse IV (CNIV), you will be an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge and competence in a specialty as well as general nursing. The CN IV consistently demonstrates excellence in all areas of nursing practice including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration. You will manage complex, unpredictable patient care situations and be a nursing shift leader. You can look forward to serving as a clinical and operational resource to the nursing staff, the unit, the organization, and the community to promote the advancement of nursing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current California State RN License required
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications (PALS).
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in specialty area

Nice To Haves

  • PICU Transport experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates shift operations; assigns and monitors meal periods, rest breaks, and tardiness on a shift by shift basis
  • When in charge, oversees and authorizes incidental overtime
  • Delegates and assigns tasks to licensed and unlicensed health care workers within the scope of their job responsibilities
  • Coaches and supports nursing staff in the application of advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to support patient care activities
  • Leads and/or actively participates and supports one or more of the following activities areas: Shared Governance-Chair, MD/RN Collaborative-Chair, Preceptor, Mentor, TCAB, Committee, Project, participation in community service activities or other related
