About The Position

UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Pediatric Cardiac ICU is a state-of-the-art pediatric cardiothoracic critical care unit dedicated to the management of acute care for a broad range of congenital and pediatric acquired heart conditions. Pre- and post-operative patients are admitted, as well as patients with nonsurgical cardiac conditions such as cardiomyopathy, myocarditis and heart rhythm abnormalities. Additionally, UH Rainbow’s CTICU is responsible for managing the care of critically ill young patients in heart failure who require mechanical support, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or ventricular assist devices (VAD). A Brief Overview Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of licensed inpatient RN experience is required.
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Inpatient Cardiac, ICU, ED, or pediatric RN experience.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit.
