About The Position

This is an Acute In-Patient Behavioral Health RN position at a Pediatric Psychiatric Hospital. The facility is MAGNET certified and has a total of 46 beds across 4 units. RNs are responsible for 8-12 patients, managing medication passes and guiding overall unit care, while Behavioral Health Techs provide direct patient observation and documentation according to physician orders (ratios of 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4).

Requirements

  • 2 Years of experience required.
  • 1:12 Patient Ratio Experience required.
  • MANDT patient restraint certification required (provided at Crittenton if not currently certified).
  • Trauma Informed Care Training and Zero Suicide Training required (provided at site).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Missouri Children's Division BG Check required.
  • Must have CPI or MANDT already to submit.
  • Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.
  • Docusign packet must be completed within 1 week of signed contract.
  • MoVechs application must be submitted within 1 week of signed contract.

  • Experience in Treatment settings: Child/Adolescents, Eating Disorders, Forensic, Geriatric, Inpatient, Locked Unit, Medical/Psych, Outpatient, Residential/Group Home, Substance use/Chemical Dependency.
  • Experience with Care of the Patient With: Anxiety disorders, Assault/violence, Bipolar Disorders, Congenital/Developmental Disorders, Degenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s, ALS, Parkinson’s), Depressive disorders, Eating Disorders, Personality disorders, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Profound impulse control issues, Psychotic Disorders, Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, Self-injurious behavior, Severe intellectual disabilities, Substance use, Suicidal behavior, Trauma-and Stressor-Related Disorders.
  • Experience with Emergency care: Cardiac arrest / CPR, Emergent chemical restraints, Physical Hold Protocols.
  • Experience with Legal Aspects: Use of seclusion, Voluntary /involuntary commitment.
  • Experience with Medications/Methods of delivery: Antianxiety, Antidepressant, Antipsychotic, Mood stabilizer, Sedatives/Analgesics.
  • Experience with Professional knowledge/skills: Interpretation & communication of lab values.
  • Experience with Therapeutic Approaches/Treatment Modalities: Managing Assaultive Behavior, Psychoeducation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide acute in-patient behavioral health nursing care for pediatric patients.
  • Manage medication passes for assigned patients.
  • Guide overall unit care.
  • Support Behavioral Health Techs in direct patient observation and documentation.
  • Respond to facility needs within scope of practice.
  • Administer medications via various methods (PO, RECTAL, IM, IV, SC, etc.).
  • Perform blood glucose monitoring.
  • Interpret and communicate lab values.
  • Implement seclusion protocols/procedures.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques, crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, managing assaultive behavior, and psychoeducation.
  • Respond to emergency care situations including cardiac arrest/CPR and emergent chemical restraints.
  • Administer physical holds as necessary.
  • Manage voluntary/involuntary commitments.
  • Initiate and maintain IVs.
