About The Position

This is an Acute In-Patient Behavioral Health RN position at a Pediatric Psychiatric Hospital. The facility is a MAGNET-designated hospital with 46 total staffed beds. The role involves working 3 x 12-hour night shifts per week for a 13-week contract. RNs are responsible for overseeing 8-12 patients, including medication passes and guiding overall unit care, while Behavioral Health Technicians provide direct patient observation and documentation. Charting is done via EPIC. Free parking is available.

Requirements

  • 2 Years of Registered Nurse experience required.
  • 1:12 Patient Ratio Experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • MANDT patient restraint certification required (or willingness to obtain at Crittenton).
  • Trauma Informed Care Training required (or willingness to obtain at site).
  • Zero Suicide Training required (or willingness to obtain at site).
  • Missouri Children's Division BG Check required.
  • Must have CPI or MANDT already to submit.
  • Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.
  • Must be responsive and complete all required documentation ASAP for MoVechs background check.
  • Docusign packet must be completed within 1 week of signed contract.
  • MoVechs application must be submitted within 1 week of signed contract.

  • Experience with care of patients with: Anxiety disorders, Assault/violence, Bipolar Disorders, Congenital/Developmental Disorders, Degenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s, ALS, Parkinson’s), Depressive disorders, Eating Disorders, Personality disorders, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Profound impulse control issues, Psychotic Disorders, Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, Self-injurious behavior, Severe intellectual disabilities, Substance use, Suicidal behavior, Trauma-and Stressor-Related Disorders.
  • Experience in emergency care: Cardiac arrest / CPR, Emergent chemical restraints, Physical Hold Protocols.
  • Experience with legal aspects: Use of seclusion, Voluntary /involuntary commitment.
  • Experience with medications/methods of delivery: Antianxiety, Antidepressant, Antipsychotic, Mood stabilizer, Sedatives/Analgesics.
  • Experience with starting and maintaining IVs.
  • Experience with blood glucose monitoring.
  • Experience with therapeutic approaches/treatment modalities: Behavior management techniques, Crisis Intervention, De-escalation techniques, Managing Assaultive Behavior, Psychoeducation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide acute in-patient behavioral health nursing care for pediatric patients.
  • Oversee 8-12 patients, including medication passes and guiding overall unit care.
  • Support Behavioral Health Technicians in direct patient observation and documentation.
  • Administer medications via various methods (PO, RECTAL, IM, IV, SC, etc.).
  • Interpret and communicate lab values.
  • Implement seclusion protocols and procedures.
  • Manage assaultive behavior and utilize crisis intervention techniques.
  • Provide psychoeducation to patients.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including cardiac arrest/CPR and emergent chemical restraints.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques and de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintain patient restraint certification (MANDT) or obtain it on-site.
  • Complete Trauma Informed Care Training and Zero Suicide Training on-site.
  • Adhere to a 1:12 patient ratio.

  • Ensure compliance with Missouri Children's Division Background Check requirements.
