About The Position

As a Registered Nurse in the clinic, you will collaborate with a pediatrician to plan, implement, and evaluate the care of select pediatric patients with acute illnesses requiring consultation and follow-up care. In an outpatient setting, you will perform assessments and provide clinical care for ill ambulatory pediatric patients. You will also contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to best practices, deliver educational sessions, and serve as a resource for patients and families. Your role will also involve working with internal and external stakeholders, such as the Emergency Department and community pediatricians. In this capacity, you will participate in interprofessional clinic rounds and assist with the evaluation and implementation of changes to patient flow from the Emergency Department and community.

Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses
  • Current BLS certification
  • A minimum of three years of recent experience in a pediatric setting
  • Excellent physical assessment, teaching, and discharge planning skills
  • Working knowledge of computer technology
  • Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment
  • Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
  • Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal and teaching skills
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
