About The Position

This is a 12-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio across all shifts. The role requires floating to Medical-Surgical units. Weekend coverage is every other weekend. Locals are not accepted; travelers must be more than 75 miles away. The unit accepts first-time travelers and requires at least 1 year of experience. ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory. Common patient diagnoses include DKA, acute respiratory needs (BiPap, High Flow, Vent/Trachs), ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, and CPORTS. This is an intensive/heavy nursing assignment. RNs must have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy and placing IVs, as these are required skills for all RNs at Unity. Special equipment includes CADDS and PCA Pumps. Scrubs should be navy blue and white.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 12-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Manage a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Float to Medical-Surgical units as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IVs.
• Administer care for patients with diagnoses such as DKA, acute respiratory needs (BiPap, High Flow, Vent/Trachs), ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, and CPORTS.
• Operate special equipment including CADDS and PCA Pumps.
• Ensure weekend coverage every other weekend.
