About The Position

Rochester General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is an 8-week contract position with 7p-7a shifts. The role involves providing telemetry and stepdown-level care to adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including long-term pulmonary conditions, ENT surgery, and other surgical procedures requiring step-down care. The nurse will be responsible for cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia management, oxygen administration, managing cardiac drips, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, IV therapy, and isolation precautions. Experience with EPIC charting is required. Nurses will be expected to float within their skillset as needed. The hospital is a 528-bed acute care teaching facility, Magnet-recognized, and affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park, offering specialized services in cardiology, oncology, neuroscience, and surgery.

Requirements

  • Active New York Single State RN license.
  • EPIC experience required.
  • ACLS certification.
  • BLS certification.
  • NIHSS certification (must be valid and included in submittal).
  • Experience with telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC).
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams.
  • Experience with nasal cannula and oxygen administration.
  • Experience with non-invasive airway management.
  • Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration).
  • Experience with blood product administration.
  • Experience with central line care/management.
  • Experience with peripheral line care/management.
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy.
  • Experience with isolation precautions.
  • Must not reside within 75 miles of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC).
  • Perform cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
  • Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams.
  • Administer oxygen via nasal cannula and manage non-invasive airways.
  • Manage cardiac drips (no titration).
  • Administer blood products.
  • Perform central line and peripheral line care/management.
  • Provide IV therapy/phlebotomy.
  • Implement and manage isolation precautions.
  • Float within skillset as needed.
