About The Position

This role focuses on providing direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Key responsibilities include patient assessment and monitoring, clinical interventions, interdisciplinary collaboration, discharge planning, and accurate documentation within the EMR system, while adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
• Active, unencumbered Virginia RN license or Multi-State Compact License.
• Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent acute care RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.

Nice To Haves

• BSN highly preferred.
• Experience in PCU, Stepdown, or ICU settings.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) may be required depending on the specific unit.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and interpret complex telemetry, cardiac rhythms, and vital signs.
• Manage titratable cardiac drips (e.g., heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, vasopressin), respond to rapid changes in patient status, and assist with procedures.
• Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and physical therapists.
• Assess and coordinate ongoing patient discharge needs with the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical records (EMR) system while strictly adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
