About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time night shift position in Palliative Care at VUH. This role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The Palliative Care team cares for adult patients (18+) with a wide variety of medical conditions, focusing on symptom management, life goals, and developing care plans that respect patient and family wishes and culture. The shift is 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, three times per week, totaling 36 hours per week, including some weekends.

LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
Relevant Work Experience
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
1 year of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
