About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) for a full-time night shift position. This role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will collaborate with the healthcare team, establish patient goals, and evaluate progress. The MICU cares for critically ill adult patients with a variety of conditions, offering opportunities to develop critical thinking and intensive care assessment skills. The unit also participates in clinical research, contributing to practice changes nationwide. This position is three times per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, totaling 36 hours per week, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.

Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
